I do it a bit differently and lay down the sticky strip right on the cardstock (keeps me going straighter, lol!), and then lay the ribbon on top of it. You'll use a lot less S.S. that way!!!

I make a scrunched up wave using 3+1 glue or Crystal Effects. It glues right to the card stock and is cheaper than the sticky strip. I draw a line to lay the 'scrunching' down on and it stays pretty straight. I use it for scrap book pages also!

This is really pretty, and I'm sitting here trying to formulate a card for a man's 60th birthday, and I think if I used brown ribbon, I could get away with this technique. :)))
I notice you still don't have a ring! :(
